iPhone 17 August Will Soon So Let’s Get Excited for the Expectant

The leaker made a new post on Weibo, and has claimed that while the back of the iPhone 17 Pro does have a “changed appearance,” a source has confirmed that its three-camera arrangement is still “triangular,” rather than the “horizontal bar spread on the internet now.” The news contradicts some other recent supply chain news from China, that said “the module is of this elongated oval shape.”
The iPhone 11 Pro used a “triangular” camera layout that was a stark departure from previous models, which utilized a more stack-like vertical line layout for its two cameras. The reason Apple included a new design was mostly due to accommodating for a third camera, which takes the form of a new Ultra Wide camera featuring better sensors and optics. The introduction of that new camera bump, however, created an aesthetic standard that future models would try to match, paving the way for the aesthetics of later releases all the way up to today’s iPhone 16.
In any case, the design of the iPhone 17 Pro appears to have a significant shift in the works. According to the Information’s Wayne Ma late last month, the rear of the new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will sport a “rectangular camera bump made of aluminum rather than the traditional 3D glass,” while the bottom half will remain glass for wireless charging support.
Instant Digital has a somewhat mixed track record when it comes to Apple leaks, but has had some notable successes, including advance notice of things like the 2023 introduction of a Yellow iPhone 14, the frosted rear glass for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, the Apple Watch Series 9 being a modest update, spatial video capture on iPhone 15 Pro, the landscape front-facing camera on the latest iPad Air and iPad Pro, a nano-texture display option for the M4 iPad Pro, battery capacities for the iPhone 16 Pro, and ongoing Apple Watch band compatibility right through the Apple Watch Series 10. This means that their reports are worth taking seriously.
