Officials confirm shooting at Abundant Life Christian School

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police looking into shooting at Abundant Life Christian School.

The report of the shooting came shortly before 11 a.m. at the school, at 4901 East Buckeye Road. There were reports of multiple injuries. The public was being asked to avoid the area as the scene is considered active.

Authorities will be blocking the roads near the 4900 block of Buckeye Road while they investigate.

Parents and students were meeting up at the SSM Health building at near the intersection of East Buckeye Road and Stoughton Road.

Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson also addressed reports of the shooting, which has injured multiple people, in post on X.

“I extend my sincere condolences and prayers for all the victims of the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School,” Johnson wrote. “I will be closely monitoring the situation.”

It was an Abundant Life Christian K-12 private school

The Abundant Life Christian School, founded in 1978, is a private Christian school that serves children from kindergarten through 12th grade, its website says.

Its 28-acre campus is one of three Impact Christian Schools campuses. The school’s website also states that about 335 students are enrolled there.

Abundant Life Christian School touts small class sizes and a “warm and respectful atmosphere.”

Local station reports police sent safety alert at 11:20 a.m.

A public safety alert was sent out at 11:20 a.m. to phones in the area, NBC affiliate WMTV reported.

“According to Madison PD- Police activity on 4900 block of East Buckeye Road in Madison. Stay away from the area,” the alert read, according to a screenshot.

A nearby resident told the news outlet she heard gunfire.

Shooting investigation; multiple injuries reported

Abundant Life Christian School, where police are responding to a possible shooting with multiple injuries.

The Madison Police Department have lined the street leading to the school and blocked off Buckeye Road, asking the community to avoid the area.

Parents have met at a reunification site at a nearby health clinic, NBC News affiliate WMTV reported.
