Suspect in Madison school shooting is 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow

TOPLINE:

Law enforcement agencies identified a 15-year-old girl as the suspected shooter who killed at least two people and wounded six others at a private Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday before she died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the police said.

The alleged shooter, identified as Natalie Rupnow but known as Samantha, was a student at Abundant Life Christian School — the location of the incident, according to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes.

The shooter killed at least two people, another student and a teacher, and injured six others — including at least two students with life-threatening injuries, both of whom remain in critical condition.

Rupnow was also declared deceased en route to the hospital from what police believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Barnes told reporters at a late evening news conference a second-grade student called 911 to report the shooting, adding “I’m going to let that soak in for a moment.”

The police recovered the handgun that was used in the shooting and said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was assisting them in the investigation on how the shooter might have obtained the weapon.
